About This Project

In December 1987, Simorgh held a 24-day screen printing workshop with fourteen women from Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan, and two resource persons. The women who participated in this workshop were essentially activists and grassroots workers. The motivating idea behind it was to provide the opportunity for both an exchange of experience and information and to teach screen printing, partly for income generation purposes, but, primarily to empower women with a skill that would enable them to create their own images for use in posters and other information dissemination material. This booklet grew out of this workshop and is comprised of images and poetry.
